thank you to all who came out for the portland cd release show for "half hours with the lower creatures" (made w/ the one and only jeff stuart saltzman). it was a remarkable night--a very happy one for me, the band, kaitlyn & sam, and brothers young (formerly fourever young). i wish that everyone could have made it in--am still astounded that so many had to be turned away. i hope that, if you missed it, you can make it out to the next full band show at the doug fir, june 19.
the band--arthur parker/bass & vox (trashcan joe, foh), john stewart/drums & vox (the sort ofs, foh), chris robley/guitar/junk/vox (foh, the sort ofs), and ben landsverk (foh, holcombe waller) really need to be heard to be believed. i mean it. june 19! the doug fir! sophe lux and per se will be there, too. a show definitely worth coming out for.
the trio--me, ben & chris-- will be doing a little show before then--may 14 at barbara mitchell's cocktail hour, the white eagle. barbara's monthly gatherings are informally known as the underground forum where we all (meaning local and national Friends of Barbara) try out new stuff and frequently fall on our asses. the trio, for those of you who have only heard the band, features different instrumentation (stylophone, magnus organ, jaymar), a different sound, and probably a completely different set. as i'm planning on throwing in a couple new, barely rehearsed songs, we are sure to fall on our asses. come see!
just a note--in case you hadn't noticed, the may 16 show at 9 muses is cancelled.
"creatures" is officially out, now.. it's digitally available on iTunes and digitally/physically available at cdbaby.com right now. just please don't go buy it digitally from the russian guys who bought it in s.f. (at a foh tour show) and promptly put it on their bogus sites from which i get no monies. i've made no contract w/ the russians, that i remember. damn them and their nefarious scheme! i also get no money from amazon (those are all used reviewer copies). wahh!
see you soon.

oops--forgot to mention--i'm doing TRUE STORIES at mississippi studios may 24. everybody tells stories, even me, but me through song. i plan on telling of galactus the world eater and his loneliness (from the album i'm at work on w/ jeff at the moment), and of saint teresa benedicta/edith stein (also from that album). i also may read from my 6th grade journal. woohoo! please see shows page for details.
